Cracking
Cracking: Irregular cracks with varying depth appear on the paint surface. Cracking often occurs in repair areas or along edges.
Description:

Cause:
- Existing cracks in the old paint surface were not completely sanded off before the new topcoat was applied.
- Aging or excessive heat treatment leads to differences in properties between the old and new paint, making the topcoat more prone to lifting.
- The paint was not completely dry before the clearcoat was applied, leaving it “active” beneath the surface.
- Inappropriate substrate treatment:
- The substrate is not clean enough.
- Improper sealing.
- Painting over an incompletely cured paint film or thermoplastic acrylic coating.
- Cracks in the filler or primer.
- Excessive paint thickness: The thicker the paint layer (especially air-dried), the lower its cold resistance, increasing the risk of cracking.
- Before painting: Insufficient mixing, too little thinner, or the wrong type of thinner.
- The substrate is too cold or too hot during spraying.
Repair:
- Remove the old paint surface and reapply the paint system.
