Yellowing of clear coat

The clear coat has developed a yellowish tint.

New paint:

  1. Dirty spray gun.
  2. Incorrect clear coat and/or hardener.

Old paint:

  1. The clear coat layer is too thin.
  2. Contaminated hardener.
  3. Incorrect clear coat.
  4. Exposure to harsh environmental conditions.

Prevention:

  1. Ensure hardener containers are tightly sealed after use.
  2. Follow the recommendations in the technical data sheets (TDS).
  3. Use the recommended hardener.

Correction:

  • Allow the clear coat to dry fully. Sand and recoat.
